In pop culture, few scenes capture the essence of esoteric training better than Luke Skywalker standing on the deck of the Millennium Falcon, blindfolded, trying to deflect laser blasts with a lightsaber.

He fails as long as he tries to use his physical eyes and analytical mind to predict where the remote sphere will move. It is only when he steps back, quiets his mental chatter, and trusts an invisible, surrounding field of intelligence that his saber moves effortlessly into place—almost as if it’s talking directly to the sphere without him.

In her book Quarterlife: The Search for Self in Early Adulthood, psychotherapist Satya Doyle Byock uses this exact mythic moment to describe the deep work of psychological and spiritual maturation:

"Listening to oneself is all about gaining orientation and recovering one's instincts. It is Luke Skywalker training and practicing to use the Force... Once Luke could connect to this mysterious ever-present other, he'd learned how to trust something beyond what he knew in his mind."

Satya Doyle Byock

When you step onto the workbench as a mystic, you are engaging in that exact same Jedi training. You are learning to drop the mental blindness of over-analysis, step into the center of your head, and establish direct, unmediated contact with the "ever-present other"—the pristine frequency of your own spirit and the subtle energy fields moving around you.

This sounds great right? But there’s a trick to it. First you have to know who YOU actually are.

Sensitivity Is Not Weakness—It Is Tremendous Skill

In a culture obsessed with industrial productivity, lower-chakra efforting, and intellectual dominance, intuitive perception is frequently misunderstood. High-sensitivity, psychic awareness, and somatic empathy are often dismissed as emotional fragility or impractical daydreaming. They are not “commodify-able” by others, so they are seen not have inherent value.

Byock cuts through this dismissive cultural lie:

"It's work that can be derided as 'weak' and 'sensitive,' but that actually takes tremendous skill."

Satya Doyle Byock

Feeling everything around you without boundaries isn't a spiritual gift—it’s an uncalibrated tool. But taking that raw sensitivity, bringing it into the 6th chakra (the center of your head), and refining it through tools, technique, and deep internal connection, neutral observation becomes immense discipline.

True clairvoyance is not a flight from reality or a delicate emotional state. It is a high-fidelity skill set. It requires the courage to sit in the eye of the storm, clear foreign energy from your space, and trust subtle data over noisy cultural consensus.

Spiritual F(l)ight Club : September Edition

September 13th, 11am - 12:30pm CT
Topic: Astral Consciousness Part 2
Everyone is welcome to attend, no experience necessary!

So much of somatic practice is focused on bringing conscious awareness and spirit into the body, like a hand in a glove. In our modern, western industrial culture, this is where our primary healing is happening because we are so alienated from our physical selves. But this is only half of our human story. There is a rich world waiting for conscious awareness out of the body, when one becomes intentionally aware and awake while separating spirit from physical form.

In the astral bandwidth of consciousness (disembodiment), there are freedoms to be found, healing to be had, and magic to create - working from pure spirit. In this two month arc, we'll be exploring how to use psychic tools out of the body, and how "the art of dreaming" can affect and effect your day to day life in the body.

The Marriage of Intuition and the Intellect

A common trap for spiritual seekers is believing that to cultivate psychic abilities, you must throw away your rational mind. You assume that intuition and intellect are enemies, forcing you to choose between cold logic and floaty, ungrounded mysticism.

This false dichotomy keeps practitioners trapped in the middle bandwidth. True mastery occurs when both systems operate in harmony:

"The partnership of those two ways of knowing—a sort of intuition combined with rational knowledge—is what gives the Jedi their strength and wisdom."

Satya Doyle Byock

Your intellect is an incredible administrative tool, but it makes a terrible master for self. When your rational mind sits on the throne, it tries to analyze, predict, and control every outcome through sheer lower-chakra muscle.

When you sit squarely in the center of your head, your spirit takes seniority. Your intellect is demoted to its proper role: a sharp, discriminating partner that translates and organizes the direct, non-linear hits received by your psychic sight. You don't abandon reason; you expand your bandwidth to include what lies just beyond it.

Matthew Fox, Original Blessing, and Reclaiming Autonomy

Why is mastering this dual way of knowing so urgent? Because without direct access to your own intuitive perception, you remain vulnerable to external control.

Byock highlights the ultimate destination of this training:

"These mythic stories provide guidance on how to walk into an independent life, a life in which one no longer makes decisions solely in deference to an authority, but through discernment, self-knowledge, and self-respect."

Satya Doyle Byock

This matches the core framework of Creation Spirituality theologian Matthew Fox. Fox spent decades exposing how patriarchal religious systems used the doctrine of Original Sin to convince individuals that they were inherently defective—and therefore required a priest, institution, guru, or external expert to interpret God and reality for them.

Fox offered a radical antidote: Original Blessing.

Fox insisted that every human being is born an inner mystic with direct, unmediated access to the divine. You do not need a middleman to knight you, grant you worthiness, or validate your spiritual experiences.

When you learn to read energy for yourself, you break the habit of bowing to external authority. You step out of the fear-based need for permission and into true spiritual self-determination. You stop asking external gurus what you should believe, and instead use your own discernment, self-knowledge, and self-respect to navigate your path as a sovereign spirit.

🔮 Weekly Reading Exercise: The Force & Autonomy Audit

Pair up with a reading partner this week, or in your own Clairvoyant Meditation Practice use your tools of discerning and focus them on the difference between the True Self and a dominant sub-personality. You can also ask these questions in a reading with a psychic—book a session with me if you want to look at these things together!

  • Scanning the Authority Cords: Scan the 3rd chakra (power) and 6th chakra (center of the head). Identify where you are still making life choices in deference to an external authority—a teacher, a parent, an institution, or a cultural trend—rather than trusting your own vision.

  • The "Sensitivity as Weakness" Scan: Read the lower triad (1st, 2nd, and 3rd chakras). Look for old pictures or societal labels that tell you your intuitive sensitivity is a defect, a weakness, or something to hide.

  • Checking the Marriage of Ways: Look at the relationship between your analytical mind and your intuitive sight. Is your intellect trying to bully and edit your psychic hits, or is it acting as a supportive partner?

  • Healing Focus: Sever all cords of deference to external gurus and institutions. Give a clean healing to the 6th chakra and spine. Destroy any pictures of "unworthiness" or "intellectual strain." Flood your vehicle with a brilliant stream of Original Blessing Gold Sun energy, affirming your innate right to know your own truth.

蠕 One Small Step: The "Blindfold" Calibration

The next time you face a difficult decision and find yourself spiraling into mental over-analysis, over-researching, or seeking five different opinions:

  1. Hit the Pause Button: Close your laptop, put down your phone, and step squarely into the center of your head.

  2. Put on the Blindfold: Close your physical eyes and drop your analytical effort to "figure it out." Drop a heavy grounding cord from your 1st chakra to the center of the earth.

  3. Ask for the Direct Hit: Bring the situation into the room three feet in front of you as a simple, neutral energy rose. Look at it without trying to fix or analyze it. Ask your spirit: "What is the absolute truth of this energy?"

  4. Look at the First Image: Notice the very first color, symbol, or physical sensation that presents itself before your intellect has time to edit or doubt it. Honor that first hit as your baseline truth.

📓 Journaling Prompts for Deep Integration

  • Dismantling External Deference: In what specific area of your life or practice are you still looking for an external "expert" or authority figure to grant you permission, rather than trusting your own internal compass?

  • Reframing Sensitivity: How would your daily life and practice change if you completely stopped viewing your sensitivity as a burden or weakness, and instead treated it as a high-fidelity skill requiring daily calibration?

  • Practicing Partnership: Think of a recent time when your intuition gave you a clear hit, but your intellect talked you out of it. How can you help your mind feel safe enough to serve your intuitive vision next time?
