"Another thing that people must give up is their suffering. It is very difficult also to sacrifice one's suffering. A man will renounce any pleasure you like, but he will not give up his suffering. Man is made in such a way that he is never so attached to anything as he is to his suffering."
We live in an era where raw human pain, psychological wounds, and personal "healing journeys" have been turned into digital currency. Social media algorithms feed on high-voltage emotional charge, incentivizing us to broadcast our most intimate vulnerabilities, historical grievances, and unresolved heartbreaks for public consumption.
In his provocative book Trauma Industrial Complex: How Oversharing Became a Product in a Digital World, author Darren McGarvey exposes how the modern web has commoditized and monetized the darkest corners of our shared human experience. What was once sacred, private psychological processing has been flattened into content—a daily transaction where we trade our lived suffering for likes, views, and algorithmic relevance.
When you step onto the psychic workbench, the energetic cost of this system becomes glaringly obvious: the trauma industrial complex is a machine designed to keep you disassociated from your own body.
When you package your wounds into public performance, you aren't integrating your pain; you are externalizing it. You are taking raw, lower-chakra material that requires quiet, internal cellular processing and scattering it across the digital crowd. You trade authentic, embodied self-healing for the synthetic, temporary relief of public sympathy.
Scars vs. Wounds: The Alchemical Difference Between Oversharing and Making Art
It is vital to draw a clear line of demarcation here: oversharing an open wound on the internet is fundamentally different from making and sharing art.
Making art is a sacred, alchemical process. When an artist creates something from their life, they do not simply dump their raw, bleeding agony onto the canvas or the page. They sit in the center of their head, take that raw, chaotic human material, and digest it within the furnace of their own conscious awareness. They run it through their second chakra (creation) and sixth chakra (vision) to transform the lead of suffering into the gold of meaning.
The sculptor Louise Bourgeois captured this distinction perfectly when she observed:
"Art is restoration: the idea is to repair the damages that are inflicted in life, to make something that is fragmented—which is what fear and anxiety do to a person—into something whole."
True creative expression takes what was broken and translates it into a unique form that brings wholeness, resolution, and new possibility to the surface. Art creates a bridge of genuine connection.
Oversharing, by contrast, is an instinctual knee-jerk reaction. It bypasses digestion entirely. Instead of making art from your scars, you bleed your open wounds directly onto the crowd, asking strangers on the internet to do the heavy lifting of validating your pain because you haven't yet found the seniority to hold it yourself.
The Mechanics of Algorithmic Disassociation
When you feel an intense wave of grief, anger, or old conditioning, your physical body is asking for presence. It wants you to sit in the center of your head, ground your vehicle, and neutrally observe the energy so it can pass.
Instead, the modern digital reflex commands you to immediately pull out your phone.
The second you decide to document, frame, or overshare a fresh wound for an audience, a violent shift occurs in your energy field:
Vacating the Vehicle: You step out of the center of your head (the 6th chakra) and become a spectator watching your own life as content, and strategizing how to share it for clicks, likes, views, and gains. You aren't experiencing the moment; you are editing it into something you can monetize.
Bleeding the Lower Triad: You open your 2nd chakra (emotional/creative processing) and 3rd chakra (power and identity) directly to the crowd. You invite thousands of strangers to project their own unexamined pictures into your open field.
Farming Validation: You lease your self-worth to the algorithm. Instead of generating your own internal validation, you rely on the digital crowd to tell you that your pain is real, valid, and worthy.
In the esoteric teachings of George Gurdjieff, this mechanical reflex is the ultimate form of sleepwalking. You create a false personality—the "healed survivor" or the "traumatized artist"—and perform it for the world. You mistake telling the story of your trauma over and over again for actually clearing the energy charge from your space, and then sharing your own energy in a truthful way.
The Radical Sovereignty of Private Healing
True energetic self-healing does not require an audience, a hashtag, or a camera. In fact, real transformation demands privacy - the kind of privacy you find when you look within and connect deeply to your own inner landscape. Nobody can go there with you, and nobody can observe that as it happens inside you.
Healing is an alchemical reaction that takes place in the quiet, unlit corners of your own space. It happens when you have the courage to sit in the center of your head, look at your darkest material without needing to polish it for public consumption, and run your own pure, self-generated energy through your body instead.
When you refuse to monetize or overshare your growth, you reclaim your psychic seniority. You stop letting the digital world treat your spirit like an extraction site. You realize that your growth period belongs to you—not to an algorithm, not to your followers, and not to a culture obsessed with commodifying pain.
Real clairvoyant mastery isn't about telling the world how much you've suffered. It is the quiet, sovereign ability to hold your space, blow a rose on the crowd's expectations, and allow your body to heal in peace.
🔮 Weekly Reading Exercise: The Content vs. Container Audit
Pair up with a reading partner this week, or in your own Clairvoyant Meditation Practice use your tools of discerning and focus them on the difference between the True Self and a dominant sub-personality. You can also ask these questions in a reading with a psychic—book a session with me if you want to look at these things together!
Scanning the Crowd Cords: Look at the 2nd and 3rd chakras. Identify any energetic cords or hooks running directly from your field out into social media platforms, public personas, or digital audiences.
The Overshare Audit: Scan the outer lines of your aura. Look for where you have unconsciously leaked fresh emotional material or private growth periods into the public sphere to farm sympathy or validation.
Checking the Seat of Awareness: Step into the 6th chakra (the center of the head). Are you sitting fully present in your own vehicle, or are you hovering outside your body, viewing your life as a narrative feed for others?
Healing Focus: Sever all energetic cords to digital audiences and algorithmic expectations. Give a clean healing to your 2nd and 3rd chakras. Pull your scattered attention back into a massive Gold Sun above your head, and fill your entire vehicle with your own private, un-commoditized light.
🤳 One Small Step: The Unplugged Property Line
The next time you experience an intense emotional trigger, a sudden realization, or a painful growth period—feeling the immediate, mechanical impulse to post about it, text five people, or share it online:
Hit the Pause Button: Put your phone down and step squarely into the center of your head.
Build the Property Line: Close your physical eyes and project a brilliant, vibrant rose line directly between your personal field and the digital world.
Keep the Gold: Ground your first chakra firmly into the earth. Look at the emotional charge inside your body and state silently to your space: "This experience belongs to my own growth. I do not owe my pain to the crowd." Notice the immediate return of strength to your core.
📓 Journaling Prompts for Deep Integration
The Performance Audit: Where in your life or online presence are you converting raw emotional material into a public performance or brand identity, rather than doing the quiet, private work of sitting with it?
Evaluating Validation: How has the subtle addiction to digital sympathy or public agreement prevented you from fully taking ownership of your own energetic clearance?
Reclaiming Sacred Privacy: If no one on earth ever knew about your deepest healing breakthrough, would it still hold value for your spirit? What changes when your growth becomes entirely self-referencing?
