The Orestes Project
BE EXTRA-ORDINARY
In the ancient myth of Orestes, the protagonist is pursued by the Furies—relentless spirits of vengeance born from the blood of his own lineage and the pain of being unseen and unacknowledged by his own family.
For the modern man, the Furies look different, but they feel the same:
The inherited weight of family expectations and the rage this cuases.
The "silent storm" of a professional life that feels more like a cage than creative possibility.
The exhaustion of trying to be "superhuman" while one’s inner world is in chaos.
The silent despair of being a "good guy" while feeling totally disconnected from one’s power to choose self-expression.
The crushing weight of a demanding, extraction-based economy and culture that doesn’t honor the needs of the individual to grow and evolve on his own terms.
Most spiritual paths tell you to "RISE ABOVE" the fury inherent in these control pictures.
They offer "good vibes" as a mask for simple suppression of self.
Like Orestes, one cannot outrun rage. You cannot "meditate away" the parts of you that are wild, rough, and real. They CAN be embraced, integrated, and put to use for “good trouble”; creative expression of the highest order.
In the Greek tradition, the Furies are eventually transformed into the Eumenides—the "Kindly Ones." The energy of this inner turmoil and pain is not destroyed; it is given a seat at the table and the inherent wisdom of being “different” acknowedged. This primal energy is woven into the fabric of justice and peace, this IS the Mystic’s Path.
This is the journey from being over-run by the energies that pursue you each day to becoming the autonomous commander of your own presence. It is the transition from Fury to Freedom.
All men are invited, to participate, no experience necessary.
